Rotorua police were called to a spate of break-ins overnight and this morning with two separate incidents happening within an hour of each other.
A hospitality boss says the behaviour is disgusting and businesses in the CBD were at breaking point .

The now-banned party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) blocked major highways of Punjab on Monday (April 12). Protesters tortured policemen and damaged people’s property, including cars and motorcycles. Police vans were also set on fire. More than two policemen lost their lives, and hundreds were injured. Our respect to those officers who sacrificed their lives to protect the people of Pakistan.
Police officers should be rewarded for their services to the country. However, there is one thing that must be condemned. After the situation was brought under control, some people shared videos on social
media in which police officers can be seen beating arrested protestors. No one should be subjected to any form of torture. It is also not right to release such videos on social media. Senior officials should take notice of this issue.

The various clubs were involved in 63 rescues and 22,174 “preventative actions”.
The season also leaves behind one of the state’s worst drowning tolls to date, with 51 fatalities since 1 July 2020.
The extended season forVictoria’s 57 volunteer lifesaving clubs was helped with an extra $1.7 million from the state government.
Overall, lifesavers and lifeguards conducted 230,000 preventative actions, 602 rescues and 130 helicopter missions as well as 15 winch rescues across Victoria.
